What is supplied
| Systems | Modular aluminium rail for ramp systems; fabricated stainless and galvanised steel; timber for heritage and residential settings |
| Profile | Continuous, graspable section, unobstructed along its length |
| Extensions | Horizontal extensions at the top and bottom of every ramp and stair, in the length the standard requires |
| Ends | Returned to the wall, to the post, or turned down, so nothing catches a sleeve or a hand |
| Height and clearance | Set to the range and wall clearance the standard requires, checked at every post |
| Fixing | Wall-mounted, post-mounted, or freestanding on modular ramp stands |
| Finish | Mill, anodised, powder coated, or polished stainless |
Grab rails and accessible sanitary facilities
Grab rails, backrests and the fixtures around them in accessible toilets and showers are installed and corrected to the positions the standard requires. On a fitout these usually sit with the plumber or the builder; where they come back on the surveyor's list, they are picked up alongside the handrails as a single item.
Installation
Set out and fixed by qualified tradespeople to the substrate: masonry, stud walls with fixed blocking, steel, timber, and the stands of a modular ramp. Existing rails that fail on height, extension or end detail are modified where the rail allows and replaced where it does not.
Rectification
Handrail extensions and end returns are the commonest handrail items on an occupancy list, followed by grab rail heights in the accessible WC. Send the list or a photograph and the items are priced the same day, and cleared in one visit with any tactile or nosing items on the same list.
Documentation and handover
Product data, the installation detail with as-installed heights and extensions, and photographs, supplied for the building surveyor, access consultant or asset register. Certification and sign-off remain with the surveyor. Installation carries a 24 month workmanship guarantee.
